Information About The K3 Marriage Visa

By Robyn House

Foreign citizens who require a K3 marriage visa are usually the spouses of American citizens. People who have been living together for years may sometimes be able to apply if they meet the required standards for cohabiting couples in the alien nation. If cohabitation does not receive recognition in the country of the foreign partner, they would not qualify, no matter how long the couple has been together. k3 marriage visa

In countries that allow polygamy, only the first spouse would qualify. Same sex unions are not currently recognized for the purpose of immigrating to America. The citizen sponsor is the one who is responsible for doing all the filing with the Department of Homeland Security.

People are advised to apply for these visas overseas. The application has to be sent to American officials located in the country where the couple got married. Wives or husbands may then enter the United States and wait until all their immigration documents are reviewed.

When people reside in countries where there are no American consulates or embassies, they must send their papers in to the nation that is closest to them. For example, a couple that is wed in Iran would get in touch with U. S. Officials in Turkey. With this document, couples can reduce the time that they spend separated from each other.

Digital fingerprint scans and a medical examination are required. Evidence of economic support, police records, a wedding certificate, valid passport and DS 156 form are all required. Documents in foreign languages must be translated and approved. Two photographs are necessary as well.

Applicants for the K3 marriage visa must be able to prove that they can take care of themselves financially while residing in America. The person who is doing the interview should be able to decide that they will not become a public charge. Otherwise, their spouse will need to submit an affidavit of support.
