Learn here what hidden risks your family camper may hold prior to starting the trip

For many of us, Recreational Autos (RV's) represent places of fun and are called a home from home in which the whole family can go on holiday and take their own personal ' 'hotel ' with them. A professional car accident lawyer, from the other viewpoint, see them as an accident waiting to occur for several reasons.

Trailer sway

One of the most difficult problems that RV's face is trailer sway. This occurs when the RV is met by powerful crosswinds when the auto is travelling along a road. Passing lorries can create big quantities of turbulence too , which can also cause trailer sway, as can a rough surface like a bad road. A fusion of one or two or more of these factors can have dire implications. Trailer sway can be difficult to bring under some type of steadiness and once it starts a rocking motion then momentum gathers and in worst-case scenarios autos can roll over.

Inexperienced drivers

Any auto accident attorney will tell you that the hardest problem with RV's is thru unpractised drivers. RV's can be pretty giant, both in width and length and as a consequence can create a lot of blind spots. It is extremely easy to tug out into another lane or make a left turn and not see another auto. Particularly if you are not used to the size of the RV.

Overloading

Many people forget that although it could be a home from home, it isn't built to take 'everything ' that your place offers and as a result they can often be overloaded. An overloaded RV is inherently perilous and could cause tire blow outs when travelling at speed.

Auto roll overs

Auto rollovers are a combination of inertia, gravity, and down force and are problematic to high-sided vehicles with an equally high centre of gravity. If a vehicle approaches a bend at speed, then down force attempts to keep the auto on the road whist gravity tries to keep the auto upright. As the auto sways inertial forces take over and the RV will begin to rock back and forth. As the auto attempts to keep upright, the high centre of gravity suggests that the vehicle loses balance and then starts a forward rolling motion. This can in several cases cause fatalities.

Unbalanced loadMany folks do not think of the results of loading a vehicle wrongly. An unbalanced or unsafe load will again cause the auto to lose equilibrium at speed.
