How to Get a Top Solicitor

By Mark Wells

Searching for the right solicitors in your home town to provide legal advice can be time consuming and confusing. This is because there will be many competing for your business but you need one that suits your needs. Here is some advice and tips to help you on your way.

You may be visiting your solicitor for appointments and meetings over the course of sometime so their location is quite important. Things to think about should be travel costs, work commitments, child care or any other thing that will be included in your normal day to day routine. This is mentioned because solicitor's offices work normal office hours and this will not suit everyone.

Contact more than one solicitor's office and get some price estimates to compare with each other. You can then pick the one that suits you best. How much one solicitor charges to the next varies so this will have an impact on the decision you make.

If your quote is unusually inexpensive it may be for a reason. You may not be getting the full range of services that you need and deserve. If a quote turns out very cheap then look into it in more detail and compare what you will get against other solicitors.

Ask around anyone that you may know who have had used a solicitors before to get feedback on how they performed. You could search the Internet to dig even further for a good review to help make your decision.

If you have any questions or queries to ask make sure that you write them down and put them to the solicitor you are checking out. You will need the business to be very professional and have your best interests at heart. If you call them how polite is the staff? Do they listen and have time for you? If they do not act in the correct manner this may continue if you are a paying customer. It may be a wise choice to avoid them.

The U.K law protects anyone from any form of discrimination because of gender, race or religion. You should be treated with total respect and be given full attention. It is unlikely to happen but if so then you may complain by using the solicitors complaint system that they will have available.

After your solicitors have completed work, you will receive a bill for their services. You should have a breakdown of the charges, for instance VAT and fees. You may have something listed that is called disbursements. These are payments that have been made on your behalf for instance a barrister to represent you on the day. If you have a question about the bill or think it is too steep you may ask the court to review it.

Searching for the right solicitors for your cause can be a slight pain, but with a little time and research you will succeed. The tips that we have just been through should help make the job a little easier and make sure you get value for the money that you spend.
